Basic and Intermediate Lighting
Course Overview:
If you’ve never worked in a studio with studio flash lighting or want to understand photographic studio technique more, then this is the course for you.
The first thing you will be shown is how to take light readings to get the optimum exposures for your photographs.
You will learn different lighting techniques, the use of various flash attachments and how to apply them to a variety of shots.
This course is aimed at complete beginners through to advanced amateurs, and is a practical hand’s on course. All your shots will be tested on a photographic model supplied on the day.
Learn to work with studio flash lights safely and confidently. You will learn the difference between high-key and low-key lighting, the effect of soft boxes, umbrellas, snoots and grid sets and reflectors.
We will take you through how to light white backdrops to make for easy cut out, and how to backlight for black backgrounds. You will be introduced to colour gels and how to use them successfully.
The teaching is presented in an easy to understand and relaxed and entertaining manner. You will walk away from this course with the skill to develop and improve your studio technique.

Camera Requirements:
You must have an SLR camera to part take in this course, arrangements can be made to hire cameras if you don’t own one, please ask when booking.
